PATRON is proud to present our first solo exhibition by Chicago based artist Alex Chitty. The exhibition will be on view from January 23 through March 5, 2016.

Opening Reception: January 23rd, 2016, 4 -7PM.

I grew up in a house in Little Havana, Miami. Nearly every photo up on the walls of our house has faded to a sepia color, the newer digital photos taped up inside windows of the bakeries and barber shops in the surrounding area fade to a cyan color instead. Whether it’s orange or a blue-ish color, you know that the picture you’re looking at is somehow depicting reality in an unrealistic way. You look through the sepia and somewhere in your head it flashes to the tie-dyed tank top and the big green leaves of the spider-lily and then back to sepia. You look at one reality and imagine another in your head. The neighbor’s house was painted pink when I was growing up here. So we simply called it the pink house. We still do. It’s no longer painted pink. I wouldn’t be able to say with absolute certainty what color it is now, though I want to say it’s a pale green of some sort, but it might be yellow. Sunlight, winds, slowly dripping water, habitual behaviors and even thoughts and ideas will imperceptibly change things over time, until suddenly they are different from what you remembered.
