The group exhibition „Schöne neue Welt“ is inspired by the visionary work of Aldous Huxley. Works by 20 artists invite visitors to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the advancing technology of our time.
Like Huxley’s novel, these works explore the interface between humanity and technology, between utopia and dystopia. In a world where the boundaries between reality and virtuality, between nature and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly blurred, we are faced with the question of how we can preserve our identity and shape our existence in a meaningful way.
The exhibition combines digital, analog and hybrid works that offer a variety of perspectives on this topic. Not only the different thematic and material approaches, but also the different dates of creation of the works – the earliest work dates back to 1970 – testify to the visionary potential of art to take up themes whose relevance often only becomes apparent years or even decades later. From dystopian scenarios to surreal portraits and interactive installations, each work invites us to delve into the depths of the “brave new world” and explore the complexity of our relationship with technology.
Some artists question the impact of technology on our mental health and social relationships. Others explore the possibilities of transhumanism and the merging of man and machine. Still others reflect on the ecological consequences of technological progress and the loss of the natural world.
This exhibition invites us to consider the opportunities and risks of technological development and to think about the future we want to shape. It challenges us to question critically and at the same time to be open to the possibilities that the “brave new world” holds in store.
