In 2020, Museo Tamayo inaugurated OTRXS MUNDXS, an exhibition featuring the work of over forty artists who were then working individually and collectively in Mexico City. This year the museum presents the second iteration of the exhibition, OTR*S MUND*S, an experimental format that considers the infrastructure of the Museo Tamayo as a material for artistic inquiry. Organized with artists and other collaborators from various disciplines living and working throughout the greater context of Mexico, this year’s exhibition was initiated by conversations surrounding the production of sound and music in the museum’s resonant architecture. OTR*S MUND*S imagines the museum as a musical instrument, through which a host of disparate interventions examine the institutional and experiential conditions that are specific to its galleries. The exhibition will unfold as a cacophonous sequence of events and encounters that convey the current state of artistic thinking in Mexico today.
