Bethany Collins is a multidisciplinary artist whose conceptually driven work is fueled by a critical exploration of how race and language interact. Language is both her subject and primary material—from nineteenth century musical scores to US Department of Justice reports. Through labor intensive acts of erasure, obfuscation, and re-writing, her works illuminate American histories and offer insight into the development of racial and national identities. Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationwide.
