Brittany Nelson Receives Creative Capital Grant

Cranbrook Academy of Art
Jan 15, 2015

Brittany Nelson’s work appropriates and distorts processes from 19th century photography to question representation and photographic ideal. In chemically manipulating traditional photographic techniques, she causes unprecedented reactions in the materials which result in abstract imagery. Nelson draws on research into science fiction, technological utopias, spaceflight, and time travel, eschewing the nostalgia of resuscitating photographic procedures.
