Reviews in Brief: Anna Plesset at Untitled

Modern Painters / May 1, 2013 / by Modern Painters

Plesset’s artist residency near Giverny, by Claude Monet’s home (and water-lily pound), resulted in her discovery of Lilla Cabot Perry, a forgotten female Impressionist. In the exhibition, Plesett lets viewers into the intimacy of her workspace (in a lovely tape top installation emulating her studio at the residency) and her research on Perry: in pages from art books, copied by hand in pencil, which look like Xeroxed pages but embrace the handmade. The result is multilayered and meaningful in its references to history, artistic practice and the process of research.
